Dennis The Lab Consultant was founded in 2011 to meet the growing need for qualified laboratory leaders who could guide laboratories through start-up, compliance, and inspection readiness. From the beginning, our mission has been to help labs cchieve operational excellence, maintain regulatory compliance, and succeed in today’s evolving healthcare environment.

Dennis holds a MS degree, is certified as an SM (ASCP) DLM. He has participated in and been on-site for more than 100 successful laboratory inspections across major accrediting bodies, including The Joint Commission, CLIA, COLA, and the College of American Pathologists. Dennis provides thorough follow-up documentation that meets survey requirements and has consistently been well received by inspectors. Should a laboratory face an unfavorable inspection outcome, Dennis works directly with leadership teams to identify and correct deficiencies, ensuring compliance and reinstatement of accreditation.

Paula holds a MS degree and is MLS (ASCP). Paula has served as both a Laboratory Operations Manager and Laboratory Director in hospitals and reference laboratory settings. She has successfully started up multiple laboratories—including hospital, reference, and free-standing emergency room facilities—bringing each from concept to full operational readiness. Paula’s expertise extends to laboratory design, ensuring that facilities are structured for efficiency, compliance, and patient-centered care. She also has deep knowledge of equipment selection and test menu development, tailoring each laboratory’s capabilities to meet the needs of its specific patient population.

Together, Dennis and Paula bring more than 80 years of combined laboratory experience and have witnessed—and adapted to—the many changes in the laboratory field.
